Hawaii Knights of Columbus pick new officers
 
The Hawaii State Council of the Knights of Columbus announced its new slate of officers for 2008-2009 at its recent convention at Makaha Resort and Spa.

The officers are:

State Deputy Larry Akana of Waianae

State Secretary Stanley Maria of Ewa Beach

State Treasurer William Clark of Kaneohe

State Advocate Michael Victorino of Kahului, Maui

State Warden, Michael Akana of Pearl City

State Deputy Larry Akana has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 14 years serving in many capacities in the Hawaii jurisdiction. He and his wife Wilma live in Waianae.

The convention honored Charles Furr of Kailua with the prestigious “Knight of the Year” award.

Other awards given to several councils recognized service work in the areas of council activities, church activities, community activities and youth activities.

With 1.7 million members, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families and young people.
