Hilo Right to Life presenting pro-life conference Minimize
Hilo Right to Life presenting pro-life conference

The Hilo chapter of Hawaii Right to Life is hosting a conference featuring three national leaders in the pro-life movement, June 26-27, in the St. Joseph School Gym.

The mainland speakers are:

  • Joseph Scheidler, National Director, Pro-Life Action League, author of “Closed: 99 Ways to Stop Abortion,” defendant in the NOW vs. Scheidler lawsuit that went to the U.S. Supreme Court which ruled that anti-abortion clinic protests could not be prosecuted under the RICO (racketeering) law.
  • Bobby Schindler, brother of the late Terri Schiavo, spokesman for the Terri Schiavo Foundation.
  • Walter Hoye, president and founder of the Issues4Life Foundation which works with African-American leaders to strengthen their stand against abortion. He was recently jailed for sidewalk counseling in front of an abortion clinic.

The evening of June 26 will feature displays, short videos, and keynote talks by Hoye and Schindler.

Saturday, June 27, has four sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Each session offers a choice of four workshops.

The morning workshops cover the topics of sidewalk counseling, advanced directives, bringing the pro-life message to schools, helping families fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, dealing with the media, physician assisted suicide and euthanasia, post abortion counseling, and communicating with legislators.

The afternoon workshops repeat some of the morning topics, plus these: presenting fetal development in public schools, church respect life committees, using graphic images, civil disobedience and the principles of nonviolence, and healthcare.

Besides the national speakers, the other presenters are Ann Scheidler, Jackie Mishler, Robb Finberg, Dr. Ruth Matsuura, Linda Johnason, Eva Andrade, Chris Garcia, Walter Yoshimitsu and Lori Hoye.

Scheidler will give the final closing address.
