2,000 Children participated in CCD Summer Vacation programs this year. (Above) Our Lady of Good Counsel Children limbering up the body. The quiet of Hanauma Bay will be broken today when about 500 Catholic children from various parish Summer Vacation Schools spend a day’s outing at this popular beach park near Koko Head.

25 years ago – Aug. 2, 1985

Celebration of a Co-Cathedral

It was standing room only at St. Theresa’ in Honolulu Sunday night July 28 when the Church was elevated to the status of co-cathedral in a joyous hour and a half vespers celebration.

10 years ago – July 21, 2000

Cathedral community celebrates feast of Our Lady, Queen of Peace

On Sunday, July 9, the community of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace sang joyfully while Cathedral rector, Father Gary Secor, blessed the statue of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, in this Jubilee Year.

The lei-bedecked statue of Our Lady had witnessed many of this community’s gatherings but for this one, she was the focus. Parishioners worked hard to decorate the statue and the church itself and prepare for the pot-luck feast to be shared by all.
